I am so happy that I am able to share with you some words of encouragement through this blog. I was thinking of what should I write so that, at the very least, I may be a help to someone today. Then, a flash came to my mind - since I am writing about success, why not write success principles found in the Bible? Surely, the Bible is the surest source of real success in life. To become a real success is to live a victorious life with God. The world is programmed to destruction and corruption, the only way to revive us from all these things is by reading, listening, and keeping the words of God. The word of God is the incorruptible seed that is able to give us new life and to save our souls from destruction. We are not all physically flesh, but we are also spiritual beings; for it is written, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but also by every word that proceeds out from the mouth of God". If you think the Bible is of no use to you, think it twice. You are a spiritual being like the angels, you need to eat the word of God so that your soul will live and survive in this deteriorating world. So, let's begin...

Psalm 1:1-6

King James Bible
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Blessed comes from the Hebrew word esher which means happy and contented. As you can see in verse 1, a righteous man is a blessed man, a happy man. As Charles Spurgeon said, "It is not 'blessed is the king, blessed is the scholar, blessed is the rich' but 'blessed is the man'. This blessedness is as attainable by the poor, the forgotten, and the obscure, as by those whose names figure in history, and are trumpeted by fame". So blessedness is for everyone who walk straight and right before God.

So what does a righteous blessed man really do and do not?

A righteous man do not (in verse 1)...
Walks in the counsel of the ungodly.
Stands in the path of sinners.
Sits in the seat of the scornful.
We can see here that a righteous man and the ungodly man thinks, behaves and do differently. The ungodly has a counsel as you can see. A righteous man can see it and knows how to discern it and does not walk in it.  Sinners have a path as you can see. A righteous man knows he does not belong to that path and he is not travelling in the same direction with sinners. The scornful have a seat as you can see. A righteous man does not criticize but uplifts the soul of others.

A righteous blessed man do (in verse 2)...
Delights in the Law of God.
Meditates on the Law of God day and night.
The spiritual Law of God in contrast to the carnal Law of Moses is used to describe the entire word of God, the Holy Bible. The righteous man is delighted in the word of God! The Law of God is his delight, and he is always excited with the things that belongs to God. The righteous man ponders on the word of God. He does not just hear it and forget it, but he thinks of it and study it. As you can see, a righteous man ponders on the word of God day and night. Because the word of God is the ultimate source of real blessings.

So, how does a righteous man is blessed? (in verse 3)
He shall be like tree planted by the rivers of water.
He brings forth fruit in his season.
His leaf shall not wither.
Whatsoever he does shall prosper.
A tree near the water will not die in the year of drought. It would be strong and stable all year round. A righteous man will be so. He will have fruits in his time, he will not have dryness, and whatsoever he does shall prosper. This is the truth in it. The word of God would be its rivers.

The ungodly are not so...
The ungodly are like chaff which the wind drives away.
The ungodly will not stand in judgment.
The ungodly are like light shells of a kernel of a grain, they have a dangerous place and a dangerous future. They are carried by the wind everywhere, and much more they will be found lacking in the day of judgment.

For God knows the way of the righteous, for He loves righteousness. The righteous man have peace with God. But the way of the ungodly will only lead to destruction.
