Starting a freelance business on the internet is one of the best ways you can achieve personal freedom and financial independence. The capital requirement is minimal, you do not need a huge starting capital for you to start with. The only things that you will need are: your own computer, the internet connection, and your writing skills plus courage, patience, and perseverance. It won't be easy from the start, but unlike being employed in a private company, you won't have to follow orders from your own boss and work with annoying and incompetent colleagues. You own all of your time, and you are the one that will determine how much effort you will exert and how much money you are going to earn. If you are a freelance writer, you can write whenever suits you best and stop whenever you like it. You can start through a hobby at first by writing short articles until it will become a full-blown career. The path is exciting but you need to be patient and should persevere from the start.

A freelance career has so much to offer to someone who really loves what he or she is doing. Rather than working in an office, the freelance jobs can be done at the comfort of your home. There are advantages and disadvantages, and it all depends on your current situation and preference.

Here are the best sites where you can begin and develop your freelance career and start earning money as a freelancer:

1.] oDesk.com
This is my favorite freelance job site. I started working at oDesk as a spending consultant to a client from Cambridge. Though the agreed hourly rate is not so great, the work is fun and satisfying. oDesk provide a very high quality service with its very friendly support team and simple yet very effective messaging system. The commission that they cut from your earnings is very minimal.
2.] Freelancer.com
This is one of the world's biggest outsourcing destination. It is now almost 10 years of operation since its launch in 2003. It is easy to signup for a new account and it is all free. This is the best place for you to start and develop your freelance skills.

3.] Elance.com
Now merged with oDesk, Elance was one of the oldest and most trusted freelance website. Elance has a very large number of freelancers in different fields like web design, graphics, content writing, and many more. About thousands of jobs were posted every month, so there's always a huge scope of getting fresh jobs.
